Partnership "Women between migration and reconciliation"
The Partnership gatheres two Partners: from Italy ("DIMMI") and from Poland ("Work and dignity life for women victims of violence").
Common interests of DPs: Both PDs aims at improving the life of women in difficult situation through a peer work with the beneficiaries, to bring out the strength of marginalised women; promoting the collaboration between the existent services; experimenting new strategies of intervention to influence, and to change, the existing services practices or to create new ones. In this sense The partnership seeks to exchange strategies and methodologies, which support, enable and empower marginalised women (including women immigrants and victims of domestic violence) and facilitate their socio economic reintegration into the labour market. The partners have identified the following common issues: Institutions and agencies do not take into account the specific needs of the target groups Services for the target group are fragmented and there is a need to strengthen an integrated co-operation between them There is a need to build capacity in organisations delivering services to the target group (on regional, national and trans-national levels) To identify barriers to marginalised women (with particular focus on women survivors/victims of domestic abuse and violence and migrants) in accessing labour market To test creative and innovative ways to empower marginalised women and support their reintegration into the labour market To bring out the strength of marginalised women To build self esteem and encourage women to take control of their lives and their choices To recognise the social, economic and cultural diversity of the target groups and work to overcome discrimination in the workplace To raise the awareness of cultural and social and economic diversity and discrimination of beneficiaries of both DP's To raise the awareness of the special barriers and needs of beneficiaries of both DP's To ensure the social inclusion, employment and training of marginalised women is mainstreamed at a local, national and European level
The common objectives of the DPs Each DP has their proper group of beneficiaries to work with and to develop their proper strategies of reintegrating women beneficiaries into the labour market. The Italian DP is mainly to work with migrant women in order to introduce them into the labour market and to make them work legally in Italy. The Polish DP among its beneficiaries has women victims of domestic violence and women offenders leaving the jail. Both Partners' objectives are to:
empower disadvantaged women to seek for a legal job work out creative methods of reintegrating women into the labour market acquire more information on both DPs beneficiaries' situation in the context of being on the one hand victim of domestic violence and on the second hand an immigrant to Italy share experiences of working with the beneficiaries involve marginalised women into innovative methods of gaining a legal job bring out the strength of marginalised women and help them to find their own strategies to find some solutions to their specific problems strengthen international networks between the countries of origin and those of destination in order to promote full citizenship rights.
The types of activities foreseen are: The creation of a steering committee for the managing and the monitoring of transnational activities. The research within groups of beneficiaries of both DPs: the Italian DP would research its migrant beneficiaries weather they were victims of domestic violence in their home countries; why did they leave their home countries; if they are ready to work legally in Italy or in Poland; and other specific themes to be agreed in the first phase of the transnational work; the Polish DP would research its beneficiaries, victims of domestic violence, weather they are ready to leave Poland to seek for a job abroad; why would they want to leave Poland; how often they go to Italy and what kinds of jobs they would prefer; and other specific themes to be agreed in the first phase of the transnational work.
The types of activities/products envisaged are: Transnational workshops/meetings on peer support, peer research and mentoring for disadvantaged women An online discussion forum for exchange of information Exchange of website links Innovative intervention models of supporting the beneficiaries groups into the labour market A leaflet stating the objectives in a clear and concise manner that contains contact and website information, at the beginning of the project A specific leaflet, after some months of work, concerning laws, services and specific actions for migrant women in the zones of intervention of both DPs A synthetic publication concerning the experiences and best practices carried out during the project Joint work of both DPs on specific cases of migrant women in difficult situation (in the country of origin and in that of destination) to create some best practices in this delicate field Making recommendations in relation to the potential impact/change on national and European policy, strategies and procedures, to be disseminated at national and European conferences and seminars Sharing experiences of equal opportunities and diversity issues in the respective partner countries Exploring the possibility of organising internship and work placement in Partner’s country for both DP's beneficiaries Developing a mechanism for monitoring and evaluation of the TP.
Added value on the strategy and intended results of each of the DPs involved The TP creates added value in the following ways: It brings together partners that have considerable experience in addressing the problems faced by disadvantaged women including women from ethnic minority backgrounds It brings together DPs emerging from the public, private and NGO sectors. As such it provides a basis for jointly examining common issues and needs from a variety of ‘starting positions’ It brings together a DP of a country of origin and a DP of a country of destination as for migrant women coming from Poland to Italy All partners have considerable experience of working at a European level Shared practice will result in new ideas on effective practice in each country and challenge existing practices Enhancing the recognition of the impact of different aspects of multiple disadvantages and identify effective models of intervention Demonstrating the impact of multi-agency partnership approaches Raising awareness of cultural diversity and discrimination Stimulating and supporting women to undertake training and employment in order to reach their full potential Bringing out the strength of marginalised women so to consider them not only as victims to be ‘assisted’ It gives the opportunity to promote the relationships between migrant women and Italian women, women in difficult situations and women with a ‘normal’ life, to discuss about the problem of conciliation between professional and private and family life and finding the similarities and the differences Working with women, and in particular with marginalised women, the DPs deal with some questions concerning men too and the all society.
